There are three types of shower faucet handles the single knob type, the double handle faucet and the three handle shower faucet. All of them have similar looks screws and designs. The only difference is the number of faucets and their key functions in mixing of the temperature of water that will come out of the shower.
We will take the double handle knob as an example. The first step is simply to pop off the two plastic pieces with a flat head screw driver then remove the two screws with a Phillips screw driver, then put on the new knobs and place your screws in, tighten then replace the new plastic cover. If your shower faucet handle is lever type, the connecting screw is either an Allen screw or a Phillips screw. All you need to do is to remove the screw, place the new handle in, put back the screw, tighten and you’re through.
One of the most common brands in American homes is the Moen faucet handle. Their clockwise adjustable handles and their hook-like faucets became common in the American kitchens and bathrooms since the 1960’s. In the 1970’s a single handle design Moen shower handles were installed in many showers built in America.
When adjusting the Moen shower handle, you must be aware that it works in a 360-degrees turn. When adjusting the temperature, rotate the handle about 180 degrees while outside the shower. While letting the bathwater flow, assess the temperature by feeling it then decide what temperature you want to take a shower in. Gradually rotate the handle counter-clockwise if you want a warmer temperature and clockwise if you want it colder. You may also need to observe the difference in temperature between the shower and the bathwater at the same handle position. There are times that the inefficiency of the shower system occurs losing the hotness of the water on its way to the shower head. If you happen to observe this irregularity, adjust the shower head and change the water pressure. You can adjust the shower head like that of the handle. Turn it clockwise or counter-clockwise, the pressure changes from intense and less intense.
